Emery Fountain is a native Oklahoman and retired career Army Officer with over 40 years of service. He began his career as an enlisted soldier and completed his military service as a Major General, enlisting in January 1980 and retiring in February 2020. In his final assignment, Fountain served as Director of Operations (J3) at the National Guard Bureau. His previous assignments include Assistant to the Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff for National Guard Matters, Special Assistant to the Chief National Guard Bureau, Deputy Director of Operations (J3) United States Northern Command, acting Deputy Director Army National Guard, and the Assistant Adjutant General Army, Oklahoma Army National Guard. Earlier in his career Fountain served at the company, battalion, and brigade level in aviation, and special operations aviation assignments. Fountain holds a bachelors degree in Applied Science from Thomas Edison State College, master level degrees in Natural and Applied Science from Oklahoma State University and Strategic Studies from the United States Army War College. Later in his career, Fountain completed fellowships at Syracuse University and Harvard. Emery is now honored to serve as an active member of the veteran community.
